How to enable Quick Launch in Windows 7

Today let's look at the Quick Launch toolbar in windows 7.

Microsoft changed the way the task bar works and made it similar to how the Mac OS task bar works. Some people like it, but i am not a fan of it so the first thing i do, after i finish installing windows, i add the Quick Launch bar.

Let's get started. First, right-click an open area on the task bar and select Toolbars / New Toolbar...

At this point, Windows will ask you to choose a folder for the new toolbar. For the Quick Launch toolbar, paste the following in to the location bar:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Now press the arrow at the right side of the location bar and you will be brought to the Quick Launch folder. Press Select Folder and you will see the Quick Launch toolbar on the task bar. So far it does not look like the one in earlier windows versions so we will need to fix that.

Right-click an open area on the task bar again and select Lock the taskbar to unlock it. It's going to be unlocked when there is no check mark next to it.

Now we are at the tricky part, moving the toolbar from the right side to the left side. To do it, just click and drag the dotted line near the Quick Launch bar to move it. It's not going to move to the left side in one try, so keep clicking and moving it until it's there.

Now all that's left is to remove the text and title from the Quick Launch bar. To do so, right-click the dotted line and remove the check marks from Show Text and Show title.

Now right click an open area on the task bar, lock it and we are done.

If you want to remove the Quick Launch bar, just right click an open area on the task bar again, go to Toolbars and remove the check mark from Quick Launch.

There you go, i hope you had less trouble adding it then i had when i did it the first time.
